Plenary Speaker

Kraft VP to Speak on Sustainability at 2008 IIAR Conference

Steve Yucknut, (pictured below) Vice President of Sustainability for Kraft Foods, will deliver the plenary presentation at the 2008 IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration Conference & Exhibition in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Yucknut is responsible for leading Kraft toward its vision of making sustainability a part of every business decision, balancing environmental, social and economic responsibility.

"We are very pleased that Steve has agreed to speak at our meeting at the Broadmoor," said 2008 IIAR Conference Chair Don Stroud. "Sustainability is a growing theme with customers and consumers. It relates to the continuity of economic, social, institutional and environmental aspects of society. Sustainable products and processes meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. That message matches up very well with the environmental qualities and economic efficiencies of ammonia refrigeration."

Yucknut joined Kraft in 1987 as a Co-op in Packaging R&D for Post Cereals and has received 5 patents during his 20 year tenure at Kraft, as well as numerous industry and internal awards. Steve worked as an Engineer/Scientist across a variety of Divisions and product lines and moved into management in R&D in 1996. In 1999, he was named Operations Business Team Leader. In 2001 Steve became the Director of Operations, Technology and Quality for the Beverage Division, a position he held for 2 years. He was promoted to Senior Division Manufacturing Director for Beverages in 2001. In that role, he had direct responsibility for 5 manufacturing facilities and all of headquarter operations. In 2005, Steve became the Senior Director of Manufacturing Business Development & Engineering. In that role, Steve added the responsibility of Coffee and Sector Engineering (field and HQ).

Yucknut has a B.S. in Packaging Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a M.B.A. in Operations Management from DePaul University. He also studied packaging at the University of London on an exchange program and has a number of certifications from UMass Lowell for plastics and plastics processing. Steve is member of the Board of Advisors at Rochester Institute of Technology.
