IIAR 2011 Industrial Refrigeration Conference &
Heavy Equipment Show
March 27 - 30, 2011
Orlando, Florida
|
Conference Highlights
Keynote Speaker
Gerard (“Jerry”) N. von Dohlen, President,
Newark Refrigerated Warehouse
Mr. von Dohlen is currently the C.E.O. of a
company operating two public refrigerated
warehouses in the New York area. He has
and continues to install innovative refrigeration systems.
He is building a fully automated crane building with 20,000
pallets refrigerated by a system including a cooling tower,
chiller package, and desiccant; all components are factory
built. The system: 1) has a 1 pound/ton ammonia charge
of less than 300 pounds 2) has no ammonia in occupied
spaces 3) has a desiccant unit that cools, dehumidifies, kills
all bacteria, and removes dust with reasonable thermal
efficiency 4) is simple, easy to install with no on site refrigeration
piping, and low maintenance. He is an active member
of several trade associations including the Global Cold
Chain Alliance for whom he chairs the Refrigeration
and Energy Committee. He also owns a kosher bagel
company and serves as an officer in a hotel company.
Conference Technical Program Highlights
The 2010 IIAR Industrial Refrigeration Conference & Exhibition
Technical Program spans 2½ days, consisting of Operations
and Maintenance Workshops, Panel Discussions, Formal
Technical Papers and technomercials – exhibitor sponsored
training sessions that examine the use of natural refrigerants
and address sustainability from a variety of perspectives.
Code & Government Relations Update
An extended special report will be made by IIAR Code
Consultant Jeffrey Shapiro on the latest news from the
mechanical and fire code arenas. Global Cold Chain
Alliance Government Relations advocate Lowell Randel
will report on the latest regulatory affairs news from
Washington, including a report on OSHA’s NEP initiative.
Energy Conservation
Technical papers, workshops and panels will inform you
of the latest operating procedures and design strategies
that reduce operating costs and boost the energy
efficiency of your system, improving your bottom line.
System Maintenance/Mechanical Integrity
Workshops examine mechanical integrity testing issues
related to piping and major system components.
Sight Glass Task Force Update
A special task force was appointed to examine potential
safety hazards associated with bull’s eye sight glasses
used in industrial refrigeration systems. The Task Force
conducted a comprehensive review of all aspects of
sight glass manufacture, installation and use during the
past year. The Task Force will report on its findings.
Exhibition Hall
The exhibit hall will feature
more than 100 displays
from the leading ammonia
refrigeration industry
manufacturers and
service providers.
In addition, several
exhibitors will present
technomercials that
combine product
information and
training. These sessions
will be held in rooms
immediately adjacent
to the exhibit hall.
